Verona nightspots – drinking and dancing

When in Verona…. Nightlife

Earlier this year (2008), the Guardian wrote a travel article about the city of Verona, after Venice the most beautiful and romantic city in the region of Veneto, in Northern Italy. Since I am sure the Guardian is much more venerable and knowledgeable than I am, I humbly follow their advice as to what are the most important Verona tourist attractions, restaurants and night life spots.

Night spots – drinking and dancing

Dance clubs tend to be outside the center, where there is more parking space, but there are many bars and lounge-style places with deejays and/or live music. Below  a list of more and less trendy places to visit:

Osteria Verona (Piazza dell Erbe) – for the local apertivo “spritz al aperol”
Square – with a dance club in the basement
Casa Mazzanti (Piazza delle Erbe) – sip an espresso on the ground floor of a grand Renaissance palace decorated with pastel frescoes.
Bottega del Vino (Via Scudo di Francia 3; 00 39 045 800 4535) – one of Italy’s most extensive wine collections
Sottoriva 23 (Sottoriva 23) – free buffet with early evening drinks
Viaroma 33 (Via Roma 33) – lounge bar
Cantina dell’Arena (Piazzetta Scalette Rubiani) – live jazz
Studio 90 (Vicolo del Guasto 90) – bar and (downstairs) dance space
Bloom Cafe (Piazza delle Erbe)
