Intercity and Intercity Plus trains

The Intercity and Intercity Plus trains stop slightly more often than the Eurostars, but still get you to your destination relatively quickly.

On these trains the luggage racks are above your head and there is no restaurant. Trolleys come by with food and drink, though. You should avail yourself of the occasion, because it will be the only time during your stay in Italy that you will eat bad food and drink undrinkable coffee.

The Intercity Plus trains are, slightly, newer and look, slightly, better.

Seat reservation

It will cost you 3 Euros to book a seat on an Intercity train. It is advisable, though not obligatory, to do this, since otherwise you might end up having to stay on your feet for the duration of your trip through Italy.

On the Intercity Night (Notte) trains you can book a sleeping berth in a compartment for 3 or for 6 people.
